Sea Glass Art

I went sea glass hunting in February, and since then I’ve been trying to come up with a way to use my treasure in a crafty manner. Since I’m not a fan of wire-wrapped jewelry, google wasn’t much help. (Although I do have some old toys and bits and pieces from the 80’s that I want to wrap eventually, sea glass is wayyyyy over-done.)  Anyways, the other day, someone who looooves the ocean wanted to buy a painting. I was inspired!

I traded buttons for sea glass for this little number!

I wanted this painting to be extra ocean-y, so I checked out this video and learned a bit about how to paint water.

It’s a bit of a different style than I’m used to doing, but I think my friend will like it, and I was happy to finally figure out something to do with my sea glass!

So, until I get my new computer (I can’t wait!!!) I’m keeping these posts short to avoid throwing this computer across the room, but lemme scrounge up one more photo that is worth sharing…

Oh! Here’s a good one:

A sweet little rainbow button tree. I had to bring it back to buttons. 😉

Have fun being crafty-or at least have fun imagining you are crafting via Pinterest

Hubby’s Bday Surprise

Today is my hubby’s birthday- the real reason for the season. Saint Patrick, shmatrick. He is old news. My hub can grow a mustache that would make Pat turn in his grave. (Whatever that means?)

Main point is, today is his thirtieth birthday, so I wanted to do something special. With buttons, of course 😉 He is a big Legend of Zelda fan (we named our 4th born child ‘Link’) so I thought this project would be perfect. I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, and until it was complete it seriously went through some ugly stages (I’ll post a tutorial when I figure out my new photo-editing program.)

Introducing button-mosaic Link:

Hubby was surprised and happy! Success! Speaking of hubby, thirty is a big milestone, and even though he has only been thirty for a matter of hours, there are already some big changes! Here is a pic of him when he was a young one, merely 29 years of age:

I do love a creep in a stache.

And here is a photo of him from this morning:

Old.

(Thanks, Cris for the pic.)

And I will end with a portrait my daughter did:

Well, that’s incriminating!

Happy mosaic-making, birthdaying, and incriminating.
