These button hair ties are probably one of the easiest, yet cutest little things you could make for a gal! I whipped up a few dozen in half an hour!
And all you need to make em are buttons and hair elastics. Be warned- some cheap elastics will snap- so make sure you go for quality here!
Oh man, these are so easy I feel stupid writing a tutorial about it! But let’s get goin:
You can use normal or nubbed buttons. For the nubby buttons like this one, just push the elastic right thru the hole.
Then push it thru the other end of the elastic and pull tight!
That was way too easy!
Lets move on to normal 2 or 4-hole buttons:
Simply shove one end thru one hole and down into the hole across from it like so!
And do the same tightening move as you did with the nubby buttons.
Depending on how thick your hair ties are, you might encounter a lot of close-fits. I just used a pin to help me out!
Check out the beginning of my stash:
So fun/easy!! My 8 yr old and 4 yr old even made some!
And here is the 8 year old modeling a nice collection of Christmassy button hair ties:
Cute!
PS. Check out her black glass butterfly earrings- I sell those here.
I hope this is an easy idea that you make for your nieces and friends. They are such a great little gift and, as you can see, they take no time at all!
Happy Buttoning 🙂
