I love your work!!!! i have a beach themed room and would love to do a button painting for it. Any suggestions?

    • thanks a lot! πŸ™‚ have you seen my sea glass art?
i painted a simple beach scene (links to youtube tutorials on that post) and used sea glass as leaves- but i was thinking shells would work too πŸ™‚ even just a beachy colored blended background with a simple silhouette of a branch or tree with seashell leaves would be perfecto! let me know what you decide on! have fun πŸ˜€

Your work is inspiring! My mom passed away last year…. And she had a tin full of buttons that she had since my sisters and I were very small. We all have great memories of playing with all the buttons…. Right down to the ‘smell’ of the buttons inside the tin… I plan on making each of them one of your button branches in colors they love, so we can each have a ‘piece’ of the button tin… πŸ™‚ so thank you very much for the fantastic ideas! If you could provide a cheat sheet of items needed, I would so appreciate it! If not the journey will be half the fun I’m sure!

    • oh gretchen- im sorry for your loss πŸ˜₯ im glad you were inspired – that is such a perfect lovely gift you will create! πŸ™‚ here is a link to a pretty detailed tutorial of a button tree- you will need- buttons, hot glue and a glue gun (you can use white glue that dries clear too if you use enough and let it dry lying down) a canvas of your chosen size (walmart, craftstores and even some dollar stores sell those- and they also sell the acrylic craft paint you can use for the background if youre doing one, and the tree πŸ™‚ let me know how it goes!!!! thanks for stopping by and for sharing your story πŸ™‚

Wowzers!! I have just discovered your blog and it’s incredible! I would love too be half as talented and creative as you! I’m off work with an injured back art the minute so will definitely be trying out some ideas to keep me occupied!

Okay, seriously in love. Where do you find so many buttons! Michaels sells like 8 of them for $5 :S!!!

    • Thanks Laura πŸ™‚ Ya michaels has some great buttons but they definitely get pricey to use for a big project! Some dollar stores sell them for pretty cheap, even walmart has had some assorted packs, but my fave place to get buttons is from a thrift or antique store- sometimes you can get lucky and find grammas old collection πŸ˜‰ Happy button-hunting!!

Thanks for the tips πŸ™‚ By the way, here is what you inspired:

Thanks! Our couches in the room beside that wall are dark wine coloured, but dark buttons seemed off balance – made it look like an apple tree, so the light greyish pink seemed to be the best way to match. The tree I TOTALLY copied from yours, though πŸ˜‰

  14. HAHaha thats okay! I started with copying… sometimes still do lol. You’ll be a tree master asap and you’ll be able to make even betta ones!

  15. Laura Froese says:

I only have enough wall space for one more! Good idea turning it into a business. I’m surprised you only charge like $50 for one on etsy. The time and supplies seem like it would warrant way more.

  16. haha ya I am selling one for 50 dollars on Etsy, but I definitely charge more for the custom pieces, which is what I work on. I wish there was a bigger market for nifty wall art thats for sure! It’s fun to do anyways πŸ™‚

  17. Laura says: And the very last creation you inspired! I say “very last” because for right now, I need to stop crafting and focus on some other things, lol! Way too adictting! (Scroll to bottom to get to button project, as first project is a photo project).
