Over the [Button] Rainbow

I’ve been seeing a lot of rainbow-inspired button art kicking around on Pinterest lately, and I thought I’d make my own.

I included my fave crafty sidekick a.k.a. Kid #1. She is the best.

Step 1: Put on your Christmas PJ’s  and draw the outline of a rainbow. I traced a bunch of different sized lids to make it perfect. Kid #1 just wung it. (Or would that be “winged it” or “wang it”?)

Step 2: Color in the rainbow:

OMG. Mine is SO much better…

Step 3: Buttons+glue=me+you= Love, do you hear me? See, I do remember Math 10.

Step 4: You can add clouds, or you can write “Mercie” in swirly, pink letters. Either-or, really 😉

Step 5: Frame without the glass- ISN’T THAT CUTE???

This piece of artwork would be perfect to brighten up that little spot in your hallway that needs a ray of sunshine. Or you could give it to a gay baby as a baby shower gift… wouldn’t it look cute on a nursery wall?

Now, while I’m here, I’ll share a little turquoise button tree I made for a sweet gal named Flora:

‘Flora’ is my fave girl name right now. It is so pretty and classic, unique but not crazy. (Not that I’m opposed to crazy.)  And on that note, I gotta get knocked up again.  😉  Happy Button gluing!

  4. Look at all the buttons you have! I got some buttons through Freecycle to make some button art– I’ve been thinking about a button elk that I saw on Pinterest, but I haven’t quite decided…. I love your button tree– now I have the thought of making one in pink, like cherry blossoms. You have a fun blog!

I need a gift for a guest speaker this weekend. She loves cherry blossoms. I am sure that this could be a beautiful pink cherry blossom tree! Not much of an artist, but gonna try this one!

    • Yup I just used white glue for this project! I prefer hot glue for sure, but since I was doing this with the kiddo I chose school glue. It worked great, but had to dry for a while!
